History might not be the right term - he can go all throughout time: past, present, and future.

The Doctor (Doctor Who) is the 'last' of the Timelords. He travels around in his time machine the Tardis; it should change to fit its suroundings but it's been stuck on the police box. The Doctor knows everything about history; he travels all through time and gets involved in crisises (because of these he faces enemies like the Cybermen or Daleks). He travels around with a companion that he's picked up. Timelords can avoid death by changing themselves, going through a rebirth, not only features but attitudes change as well. All those Doctors are the same person.

Sorry, I feel like an idiot - what's Doctor Who about? All these cool doctor drawings have made me curious.
