A work-in-progress, featuring maybe the one villain who's seen as many changes as the Doctor.

Color version here:

Special nods to Lee Sullivan and Adrian Salmon, as some of their work is heavily reffed here (the REAL TIME Cyberman and the symbol from DWM's "The Cybermen" comic, respectively), as well as the artist who depicted the SPARE PARTS Cyberman and horse for DWM 320 (he wasn't credited, but I'm pretty sure it's DWM regular Martin Geraghty), and of course all the brilliant designers who have contributed to the Cybermen's legacy over their 45 year history...

Oh yeah, and I love the buzzing, electronic voices of the new Cybermen. I actually quite liked the similar voices in the Second Doctor ones as well.

Technically the Cybus ones aren't on here, just the Mondas ones who adopted the Cybus design. But obviously the only difference between them is the logo, so that's a pointless argument.

I love all the designs, I really do. I have to say that the Cybus design is my favourite, and I know some purists might get on my ass for that, but I don't really care. I like art deco, and I like the factory look, because it makes them seem more like products than people. De-humanizes them more into just one mass of steel soldiers. BUT it juxtaposes the fact that they have organic brains and nervous systems. Clearly one group of Mondasian Cybermen was so impressed by the Cybus group that they upgraded themselves into that form. I guess that's a little fanon theory, but it's the best explanation there is until the situation is addressed. If ever.

This is absolutely brilliant! I love it! Although I do have a question about the symbols - I recognise the top one as the one from 'Tomb of the Cybermen', but I don't recognise the second one - the one that looks like a stylised Cyberman head. iE is obviously International Electronics from 'The Invasion', and the C is the Cybus Industries logo, but why is the Seal of Rassilon there?

I love this, as it shows the evolution of one of the best monsters in Doctor Who with a nice, crisp art style.

I'd love to see an evolution thing from apes to man to Cyberman.
I'm not sking for a comission.
I'm just pointing it out.

This is great. For some reason I tend to prefer your work as black and white instead of color. I think it's bolder that way.

I guess I'll take that compliment on this pic since I didn't color it (even though I think Charlie's work was masterful)- but don't you dare say that on one of the one's I did, as that'd be huge professional slam. ;) I mean c'mon Chris, people pay me to color! (Donald Sutherland voice) "I'm serious, people! This is my job!" :D

Seriously though- I would say I like my pencils/inks better than my coloring, in and of themselves. I think there's plenty to enjoy on a technical level, but I'm not that crazy about most of 'em as complete works (there are exceptions- like when I do b&w commissions, which are designed to be that way). Most of'em are very much an unfinished product. Like Geoff Darrow, I'm one of those guys that doesn't even BEGIN to bother with shading- that's all left to the colorist, so that's a big strike. There are some guys whose style can stand on its own in b&w- Brian Bolland, Berni Wrightson, Neal Adams, Chris Weston, etc- but I just don't think I'm one of those guys (I'm flattered YOU think so though). :)
