The August issue of CHAMPION! Magazine is out! In this month's "Commission: Impossible" we explore yet another comic adaptation that will never, ever happen: a continuation (or should I say "re-up?") of HBO's landmark series THE WIRE, done in the style of Frank Miller's SIN CITY.
People who watch me on DA might be surprised to hear that THE WIRE is my favorite TV show (yes, you read that right- I didn't qualify it with "American TV show" or something like that). And if ya think I'm crazy, go watch all five seasons- then we'll talk. Like a lot of the "Commission: Impossible" picks, we're being kinda cheeky suggesting a sequel at all. The show is probably the best TV show ever made, and it wrapped up with an ending so perfect that nothing more needed to be said. Ever.
Nevertheless, it was fun as hell to do something this "wrong". Pick up the new CHAMPION and check out the rest of the article!
Doctor Who is always going to be my favourite TV show, but damn it if The Wire isn't the best thing I have ever seen. Five seasons of faultless writing and frighteningly real drama.
I'm not qualified to comment on this in regards to The Wire, as I've never seen it, but I do like the Sin City feel you've brought. I like the way you used the diagonals, too, on the wires, the guns and the perspective of the building. Even tho' it's a static shot, there is plenty of energy and movement in it, due to your composition. Nice work!
I THINK it is actually available for Android now. Don't quote me on that though- smart phones and tablets are still alien tech to me (I use a 5 year old Blackberry). But I know my editor said they were getting ready to make the jump to it. I believe a Kindle version is in the works too.
