The Valeyard by PaulHanley The Valeyard by PaulHanley
Normally I don't do requests, but here's a quickly-executed one of the Doctor's sinister alter ego, so wonderfully played by Michael Jayston.

Since Peter Capaldi, despite being named the Twelfth Doctor, is technically the thirteenth incarnation (since the War Doctor is chronologically the ninth), Matt Smith is actually the twelfth incarnation.

The Master said the Valeyard was created between the Doctor's twelfth and thirteenth selves, so with the upcoming regeneration on the Christmas Special 2013, the return of the Valeyard is actually a very real possibility.

Well it's certainly interesting that the Great Intelligence just recently mentioned the Doctor would be known as the Valeyard before he dies (which from his perspective, implies pre-Trenzalore).  It's certainly very curious, and I wouldn't put it past Moff to dig that thread up, since he loves paying off things foreshadowed in earlier (in this case WAY earlier episodes).  I actually saw Michael Jayston at Gallifrey One last February, and though he's definitely much older, I think he could still pull it off.

On the other hand, the Master's actual words were "... somewhere between your twelfth... and final incarnation."  There's a lot of room to move in those words, especially if the Doctor's lifespan gets stretched past 13 regenerations (which seems almost certain at this point).

Of course, the mother of all surprises would be if Capaldi turned out to be the Valeyard himself, and the current Doctor became a bad guy for a while.  I really don't think they'd go there, but it'd be a hell of a twist.

While I wouldn't like it if The Doctor was just straight evil for a little while, I would love it if Capaldi played The Twelfth Doctor and The Valeyard, so it'd kinda be like the scene from "Nightmare in Silver" that were in The Doctor's head.

Kinda sad that we know the Doctor is guaranteed to become a villain and be destroyed by Six

No real point in watching now that we know how his story ends

He's actually the embodiment of all of the dark part of The Doctor, so he's more like a being who'll be created either when he regenerates into The Twelfth Doctor, or at some later point in Capaldi's run as The Doctor.
