42" x 30" ink on Bristol, colored in Photoshop.

This Hieronymous Bosch-eque behemoth is made up of almost all the various bits and pieces I drew to create the various "Viva the 'Nam" posters I've been postiing lately. The background for this monster was drawn on three large Bristol sheets taped together (just barely fitting on my drafting table.

Sometimes I go overboard. :dizzy:

Believe it or not, this is somewhat representative of a scene that actually appears in the movie.

Yeah, what the VC lacked in vehicular transport, they made up in crazy. Never underestimate the people of a dirt poor, war-torn country with nothing to lose. I'm almost surprised they never tried anything like this for real. :D

Realy like "Viva the Nam" and "Cong of the Dead" how long did it take you make it?

Thanks! Hard to say, really- but the answer we usually give is 8 years. The idea and some of the footage dates back as far as 1999, but we didn't really start shooting it as a feature until about 2002. We got the last shots in 2006, and from there it was a very long and arduous process of editing it and doing the sound. It finally premiered in January of 2010.

90% of the work was done by me and my co-creator Kieran, so that's why it took so long to do. We learned a LOT by making it though- I'm reasonably sure I could make a better movie at a faster pace now (and cheaper too) ;)
