Finally got around to coloring this pic- the four guises of the Time Lords' enigmatic founding father...

Clockwise from the top: Rassilon from his first "onscreen" appearance in the DWM strips "Star Death" (written by none other than Alan Moore) and "The Tides of Time"; Don Warrington as the particularly sinister incarnation from the Eighth Doctor audio adventures; Timothy Dalton as Rassilon's Time War era incarnation from "The End of Time"; and Richard Matthews as Rassilon's "final" incarnation from "The Five Doctors."

That is really cool. It was so cool that they got Timothy Dalton to play Rassilon.

Hold on. Dalton would be Rassilon's most recent incarnation as it's strongly implied he was resurrected to preside over the Time War.

I think you're missing the joke- that's why "final" is in quotes. ;)

Looks amazing. Also, Dalton looks strangely badass with that smile on his face.

Amazing!

I thought it was weird that they had 10 call him Rassilon in End of Time part 2, but he's listed in the credits at the end of the first part as "The Narrator". Like they decided on it last minute and had Tennant say the line as a quick nod to what came before.

If I remember right, RTD's comments in "The Writer's Tale" suggested that the Rassilon thing was always intended since Dalton was brought on- though there was a weird thing about how they wanted to leave it ambiguous about whether he was "that" Rassilon. Odd choice- kinda like how RTD's said that the whole Jack/ Face of Boe thing may be malarky. Stick to your guns, dude! I think everyone else has decided it WAS the same Rassilon that founded Time Lord society though. Makes sense, as the Time War era Lords were obviously resurrecting people left and right, and if we can believe THE FIVE DOCTORS' implications, Rassilon wasn't even quite dead to begin with. It makes sense they'd turn to their greatest and most fearsome leader when the chips were down.

As for the whole "Narrator" moniker, I think that was just to keep the Radio Times from spoiling the surprise (for once). ;)
